A Popular Misconception about the Universal Dating System from the Time of Jesus Christ

Contrary to what many people think or know, the abbreviation AD (British English) or A.D. (mainly American English) does NOT mean “After the Death of Jesus Christ”. The following authoritative encyclopaedias and dictionaries of the English language validate this assertion.

Dearly Beloved, it is now clear that the abbreviation AD (or A.D.) means “in the year of The LORD Jesus Christ”, which is counted from the First Anniversary of His Divine Virgin Birth (His First Birthday).

Therefore this year 2023 is actually the short form of saying 2,023 years (two thousand and twenty-three years) after the Birth of Jesus Christ The Son of Jehovah The LORD God Almighty, The One and Only Saviour of the World, The King of kings and LORD of lords (1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 17:14, 19:16). Alleluia!

And that is why my Christmas greetings, like that of this year, always include a special one that refers to Jesus’ Birthday: “Happy 2,023rd Anniversary of the Birth of JESUS CHRIST The Saviour of the World!”

It is significant and important to refer to the Divine Birthday of Jesus Christ because He is still alive today, after His Resurrection nearly 2,000 (two thousand) years ago from His redemptive and vicarious death through crucifixion on the cross, and He is alive forevermore, forever and ever, as He triumphantly declared in Revelation 1:18 (King James Version of The Holy Bible): “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Without any iota of doubt whatsoever, JESUS CHRIST is (because He is alive after 2,023 years since His Birth and will forever be) the most important person (because He incarnated and became a human being for about thirty-three years for Him to be able to die for the sins of His fellow human beings) that ever lived and will ever live in this world. That is the reason for the universal system of time to be reckoned before His Birth (BC) and after His Birth (AD). The Holy Bible clearly states these unimpeachable truth and facts in Philippians 2:5-11 (New King James Version) thus:

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Atheists, secularists, and the adherents of diverse religions worldwide, who are anti-Christian (they oppose Christians and Christianity), have tried, and are still trying, in vain to change the universal system of reckoning time from BC (Before the birth of Christ) to BCE (Before the Common Era) and also to change AD (Anno Domini, from the first Anniversary after the birth of Christ upwards) to CE (the Common Era) or ACE (after the Common Era).

Know that part of the machinations or schemes of the antichrist and people who are anti-Christian, as prophesied by Daniel (nearly 2,800 years ago, about 500 years before the Birth of Jesus Christ) in Daniel 7:25 (New King James Version), is to change times and seasons (which may include Jewish and Christian festivals, as well as the universal system of reckoning time with reference to the divine Birth of Jesus Christ):

25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time.
