Topic: Covenant Grace

MEMORY VERSE
Exodus 19:51
“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:”

BIBLE READING
Exodus 19: 1-15

COMMENTARY

Blessed family and friends, the authority of God’s covenant-grace perpetuates and endures from generation to generation. Abraham’s “seed,” wherever they may be found, are blessed with longevity and prosperity. Joseph controlled Egypt, Daniel controlled Babylon and Mordecai, and Esther presided over Medes and Persia.

Covenant-grace preserved Jesus when Herod gave a decree to annihilate children from 2 years downwards. Same with Moses, who survived Pharaoh’s infanticide to become Pharaoh’s “nemesis” with destructive plagues.

Why didn’t the angel that Jacob detained till dawn kill Jacob or even vanish? It was the authority of God’s covenant with Abraham that gave him the grace to detain the angel. Why?

Angels fear and respect God’s covenants and statutes. The angel knew that God’s covenant with Abraham had been established in Jacob (Genesis 28:13-14). As a matter of fact, angels welcomed Jacob back from his trip, aware that his return was strictly on the basis of that covenant (Genesis 32:1-2).

Jacob saw the angels, recognized them, and named the place, Mahanaim meaning, two camps or two companies (the angels’ camp and his own). No wonder he wrestled with one of the angels requesting to be blessed.

The angel re- named him Israel from Jacob, the trickster or the supplanter to accommodate God’s promise to Abraham in (Genesis 12:3). “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)

Today, you are a beneficiary of the Messianic covenant executed by Christ, and the Bible says in Hebrews 1:14: “Are they (Angels) not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

May God’s covenant-grace open amazing doors of strange blessings for you today and always in Jesus’ Name.

May the angels of the Lord cause far-fetched miracles to be within reach, in Jesus’ Name.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO

  1. Study the lives of those who served God and were blessed thereby.
  2. Rest assured that His grace is sufficient unto you.

PRAYERS

  1. Covenant-grace without disgrace locate me today in Jesus’ Name.
  2. Angels of divine assignments bring through my blessings in Jesus’ Name.
  3. Every power assigned to frustrate my mission in life, catch fire, and burn to ashes in Jesus’ Name.
  4. Every grave power calling my name, scatter by thunder in Jesus’ Name.

Please, kindly share this Devotional. Thank you so much. God bless you. Amen!
