COMMENTARY

Blessed family and friends, The greatest battle that any man can face in life is that of family recognition and acceptance.

The President of the United States of America may not be so recognized in his home because there, he’s a husband and a father and not the most powerful president in the world.

The family of our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated this when He was ministering in a place. His mother and brethren rather than join the service in order to speak with him later, stood outside and sent for Him.
“While he yet talked to the people, behold, His mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” (Matthew 12:46-50

The reason people outside the family appear to benefit more from you is because they believe in you more than some members of your own family. Family members are familiar and familiarity breeds contempt. Jesus said, “You will say, physician heal thyself, because No prophet is accepted in his own country.” (Luke 4:23-24).

To underscore this point, He couldn’t perform any spectacular miracles in Nazareth. “But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief.” (Mark 6:4-6).

But as soon as He left his hometown of Nazareth and came to Capernaum, the story changed, as multitudes were all healed at once. “Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.” (Luke 4:40).

Don’t allow people to devalue you no matter how close they are to you.

Till today, the Jews commonize Jesus, but Christians world over, celebrate Him. May the Lord move you from where you are rejected to where you shall be celebrated in Jesus’ Name.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO

Don’t allow family and friends to determine your goals and destiny in life.
